- Statutory maternity, paternity, adoption, parental bereavement, and shared parental pay is to increase from £151.97 to £156.66 per week or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, whichever is lower as of 03 April 2022. - Statutory Sick Pay is to increase from £96.35 to £99.35 per week as of 06 April 2022.
- The average earnings an employee has to earn to be entitled to these payments has increased from £120 to £123. This is the first time the lower earnings limit has increased in two years.
- National insurance – As of 06 April 2022, the rate of National Insurance contributions paid by the employee will change. If an employee is paying more than the lower earnings limit the amount will increase by 1.25%. The purpose of the increase is to invest the additional money in the NHS and social care across the UK. Please note, we are advised the increase will only happen for one year.
